Nick Diaz was looking for a fight and got one from his challenger Paul Daley, who dropped the welterweight from Stockton, California with a wicked left hook. Amazingly, Diaz was able to survive and finish the dangerous Brit in the opening round.
Things were heated from the start, clearly stemming from Friday’s weigh-ins confrontation. Diaz got right into “Semtex’s” face and proceeded to taunt him throughout the early portion of the bout.
It was classic Diaz, as the Strikeforce 170-pound champion dug shots to Daley’s body before rocking him with punches to the face.
Then, seemingly out of nowhere, a left hook flattened the chatty-challenger as Diaz took advantage, unleashing a number of shots before referee “Big John” McCarthy stepped in to stop the title bout.
